Project Objective

The client came to Magnomates for the upgrade of their store from Magento 1.9 to 2.0 and redesign of the store for an improved UI/UX. The focus of the project was to ensure a safe upgrade with complete security of all the site data and a responsive interface allowing the customers to easily browse, search and shop online.

Strategy

The project required distinct strategies to attend to the requirements highlighted by the client. We conducted multiple meetings with the client to gain better insights into their business and acquire detailed requirements. Basis the inputs received, a project manager was assigned, who prepared a blueprint comprising project objective, project requirements, client expectations, milestones to be achieved, testing strategies and expected date of delivery. We followed a two-phased approach wherein the upgrade was to be completed first, followed by UI/UX improvements.

Phase I - Upgrade

The process began with the proper backup of all the site’s data including product data, customer data, and order data. The upgrade was seamless and completed without any loss of data.

Phase II - UI/UX Improvements

After successfully upgrading to Magento version 2.0, the project was queued for UI/UX improvements. A team comprising an analyst and a developer was assigned for the project. The analyst carefully analyzed the complete website, the behavior of various elements and how the website is being perceived at the user’s end. The findings were properly documented in the project blueprint along with other improvements and suggestions. The blueprint was forwarded to the developer to make the necessary amends and modifications to achieve the objective of UI/UX improvement.

Result

The store was accurately migrated from version 1.9 to 2.0 with complete restoration of the store’s data. The store, in the end, had an appealing interface designed to offer an intuitive user experience and a smooth shopping experience. The project was completed and delivered on the committed date.
